In this short video, I go over an important setting that is often overlooked when setting up a sharing plugin like Shareaholic or Add This on your blog. Too often it is left at the default setting so when people do tweet your post it ends up showing via @addthis or @shareaholic. The downside? You’re missing out on a huge opportunity to attract new followers as well as interact with people who do share your post.
Watch the video and see what big name publication isn’t even using their Twitter handle in their tweets..it’s surprising!!

Thanks for sharing this Sandy, this completely bugs me when people don’t make this basic change. I’ve seen top bloggers forget this setting too. It’s incredible! Great job
Me too!!
It’s a small detail that has big consequences in terms of new followers and engagement. Why have it at all?
Great advice Sandy! It makes it so much easier to share a tweet to not have to go & look for the right twitter handle as well 🙂
Absolutely! It is all about engagement, right?
Totally useful setting, one that I didn’t think to change from the default. What I was doing instead was deleting the Shareaholic and adding mine instead before pressing the Tweet button. So much more elegant your solution.
Thanks, Marika! It’s a small setting but makes a huge difference in terms of getting your name spread on Twitter. Thanks for your comment!
Awesome! I’ve been needing to do this but didn’t know how.
happy it was helpful, Alicia! such a small detail but makes a big difference!
